Executive search is a specialized form of management consulting that combines the filling of medium to high level vacancies in companies with organizational strategy analysis and planning.

Although it may seem to be similar to standard employment recruiting, the difference is that the executive recruiter will first analyze the strategic objectives of the (client) firm and more generally gain an understanding of the client's strengths and weaknesses.
The candidates that are subsequently recommended by the recruiter have thus been chosen for their ability to complement the client's strengths immediately and add value to the client's business, potentially into the long term.
